Ancient Amphora Green Bay Cyprus

You can google Amphora to find more, but Amphora is the name given to ancient ceramic pots used by ancient Greeks & Romans to transport cargo on ships. Basically an ancient version of barrels or kegs. Green Bay in Cyprus is covered with fragments fused into artificial reefs. #Cyprus #Green Bay #GreenBay #Amphora #AncientGreeks #AncientRoman #Diving #Scuba
Loggerhead Turtle Encounter Green Bay Cyprus

I was on a dive with Taba Dive Centre in Pernera, Cyprus and encountered this guy eating his lunch! He/She is a loggerhead turtle. The waters of Cyprus are crystal clear, you also see the remora fish on it's back, these have a symbiotic type relationship with the turtles, keeping them clean in return for food. I feel very privileged to have had this encounter and the turtle just didn't care tha...

Feeding the fish in Green Bay, Cyprus, footage taken with an Akaso V50 Pro at 4K 30fps, the camera has a built in diving filter but also I tuned and cut the footage using Wondershare Filmora 13. Thanks for watching and apologies if I bore you with more diving videos. Big thanks to @tabadiving tabadiving.com/ of Pernera who I chose to use, been with them several times now and highly recommend.

The Cactus Shop Paralimni Cyprus (4K)

The Cactus Shop, Paralimni, Cyprus. This is really not just a cactus shop, this is an absolute hidden diamond of a location I found almost by accident during my last trip to Cyprus. It is an absolutely magical place run by a man who is very passionate about his subject, he really is the Mr Miyagi of cacti and if you are ever in that area you really do need to visit. Akaso V50Pro 4k Underwater Test

This is raw footage straight from the Akaso V50 Pro camera just to test it, snorkelling at Green Bay nr Protaras, Cyprus. Shot in 4k @ 30fps with no filters. You may see a section where it looks slightly shaky, that was me shivering as a really cold current swept through.
AKASO V50 Pro Test 1080P
Просмотров 374Год назад
A number of the reviewers have said the 1080p performance of this camera and it's inbuilt audio are garbage. However, a number of the reviews are old, hardware and firmware versions have changed a little, so this is my own test of the latest version in Oct 2022. The camera is marketed as a budget go pro opponent. This was shot at 1080p @90fps. Unfortunately my editing software wouldn't play and...
Quick Test Akaso V50 Pro
Просмотров 181Год назад
Very quick test of the Akaso V50 Pro action camera, it's a budget camera with very good specifications, I shot this just as a test, I chose this section because there are transitions from light to dark areas which then shows quality in different light but also how it transitions from one to the other. I will also say that support from Akaso on this camera is second to none, I had questions and ...
Pub Bar Refinish

My sister owns a pub, the wooden bar surface was well worn from years of use, she asked me to re-finish it for her, main tool used was an Erbauer random orbit sander with extraction vac, and a trim router, various scrapers, finish was done with Morrells products, all applied with a roller.

Wonderful!!
I was wondering if the star would have to be centered for the full 180 degrees? I have it centered on 0 and 180, but at like 90 it’s not even close. Should it be centered?
Only at the 0 and 180.
Thank you. it's June of 2024. I just blacked out my glass and ordered flocking material. will pick the grease up tomorrow :) oh, its for the Meade Adventure Scope 80 I got yesterday. its going on my Celestron OMNI 150XLT six inch newt. that's sitting on my AVX .took me many years to save, buy, sell, buy and put together this setup. the 80 will be used as a guide scope and probably for the moon, orion, etc, etc. :)
Good to know after all this time I'm still appreciated, thank you.
That looks like a great place to visit, thumbs up 👍. I'm a New Subscriber. Cheers Joe 😊
Thanks, it's a wonderful place.
Very coo, it's on my bucket list. Cheers Joe 😊
Really cool video Dion love the under water captures, good job. Thumbs up 👍. I'm a New Subscriber. Cheers Joe 😊
Fantastic experience 👏
Latest astronomy video is 8 years ago is it not time to change the name of your channel
I really wish they would add a dark frame collection and calibration firmware update to cut out the noise from the CMOS sensor.
8:08 say it loud. Say it again.
I am your new subscriber 🙂. Great video series for mount setup. BTW, I am using AZ-EQ5 since 3 years now and having no issues with setup, but just like your setup series. Thanks for making and sharing. Its truly helpful.
Thank you, appreciate the feedback.
Whatever happened yo your astro stuff?
The youtubes are all still there, but I gave up on Astronomy about 10 years ago.
@@astronomyshed why is that mate? so much has changed
@@nikaxstrophotography The English weather hasn't lol, thousands of pounds worth of kit I hardly got to use, then I got sepsis pneumonia, had other issues, just completely lost my astro mojo and sold all my kit. Now doing metal detecting which isn't as weather dependant and it gets me out in the fresh air.
@@astronomyshed Al the best, When I first ventured into Astophotgraphy I watched your channel for ideas and techniques available at the time. It has come a long way since then Thankyou.
IF I could wlak around better this looks like good fun.
It's very good for the mental health Earl, but how weird, I was only thinking about you yesterday, an old school mate was always into Devo and I remember Wayne Weedon used to make the Devo domes, he just disappeared overnight Wayne, the Glenn Miller of engineering.
@@astronomyshed Hope you well mate :) im getting a bit of stuff onto youtube these days no delightfully brummy waffle though :D LOL
@@Earl_Robinson_UK Well, had pneumonia sepsis, then when covid started I got covid pneumonitis so was admitted for 2 weeks on 24hr oxygen and blood thinners etc (clots in lungs) but, like a cockroach I made a full recovery lol, not even a rattle in the lungs, couple of kidney stones giving me jip but other than that, alls good, liking the metal detecting as I'm interested in history anyway but also love just being in a field and seeing the hares and various birds of prey etc Got permission on a couple of farms near me so loving it. See you're into the action cams, I have the Akaso Brave y now which is a little belter.
@@astronomyshed I also picked on a DJI Mini 4 Pro, its fun
I have a old silver badge that Google can't identify can you help please
You need to post a good photo of it in one of the detecting groups.
Is this your new thing Dion? 😊
Walking round fields waggling a stick about Doug, it's very good for the mental health apparently and it's good fun.
If a Newt is poorly collimated, like the laser dot is coming out of it and hitting the wall, when you put a perfectly collimated laser into a good 2 inch adapter in the focuser and turn the laser, will it still define a circle on the wall instead of a dot? Good video, thank you.
Possibly, because the actual focuser alignment may not be central to the tube. If the collimator is collimated and it's drawing circles then you have to look at every part of the chain. Focuser, secondary, primary.
I'm so frateful! You are very generous with your wisdom.
This method is flawed, the camera looking down the focuser does not account for perspective, if your laser collimator looks back on itself all is fine, and if the secondary is in the wrong position.. the image will vignette in ether four corners.
Hi mate, also based in the UK, would you know the specific part or mm? Just went to ScrewFix to get one that looked like it. A floplast push-fit socket plug 32mm but its too loose for the polarscope on my CG-4 mount unfortunately the only other size is a 40mm but that would just be bigger. Thanks.
As it says in the video, it was a flo plast 32mm bung, your polar scope must be a different size, my mounts were Skywatcher.
@@astronomyshed Appreciate the response, yeah most likely may add some tape to it to slightly thicken it up I guess.
Good Day from Cardiff and thank you for all your helpful tips. I'm a complete beginner. But I do have a Skywatcher 250pds. I have flocked the inside and blackened the edge and back of the secondary mirror. As for the focuser, on the 250pds. I cant see the collimator screws that you said you can easily get to. Are the 250pds supposed to have one there. ? I cant post a photo on here sorry to show you my focuser. I got this 250pds secondhand. I've never used it yet,as I wanted to flock it ( which has been done now ) first and clean the mirrors before I use it. Thanks again for your helpful Vids Regards Roy
If you go to the link I'm going to post, look at the focuser, you will see 2 holes which are where bolts would fix it to the OTA then just inside from those where you see a circular ring, you can see 2 dark bolts with largish heads with tiny grub screws right beside them, those are focuser alignment/collimation screws. If your focuser doesn't have them, the only other way is to shim under the fixing bolts if the focuser is out of alignment. www.astroshop.eu/focusers/skywatcher-2-crayford-focuser-for-explorer-newtonian-reflectors/p,22264

So glad you’ve still got these up, really appreciate it, had my telescope in storage for the past ten years, but now my eldest is 12 he wants to use it & these videos are so helpful. Thanks again Joe
You are very welcome my friend
Thank you!
I'm not 100% sure but I think it didn't upload properly. ☝🏻🤓
It's still processing, 4K takes a long time, still about 1hr left. watch again in about 1 hr and the change will be huge.
12 year old video but still relevant information. I appreciate the straightforward explanations.
Thank you for this, this is my kind of paradise. I hope to get there in November. X
Thanks, it's truly a magical and impressive place Andreas has created.
Sandwich a large stainless washer BETWEEN the secondary and the spider. Should minimize erosion due to alignment bolts. My suggestion showed up as I heard the same comint from the poster...
?
The bit you (or I) may have missed is the rotational alignment of the polarscope in the mount. I'm new to an EQ3-2 and as i understand it the small ring on the larger ring in polarscope view should be at the 6 o'clock position with the mount set to 1st Nov. This seems to be essential if you are fitting a new polarscope or refitting your existing one.
PTFE tape (plumbers white) on loose threads will also work.
Thank you for making this video. It's especially relevant now that Nebulosity has become "Open Source" so support will depend on all of us.
Always liked Nebulosity, the rewards were there if you put in the time.
I wonder if you said hello again to passers by 😉Actually watching this has reminded me that we haven't visited Richard's bridge in a while so must make a point of going there soon.
Thanks for watching ;) Still miss that old oddball lol
@@astronomyshed Me to mate I've got a box full of solar glasses to hand out still lol, must get my outreach head on again sometime.
Hallo, i am writing over from Germanys harz mountains and i found your video very helpful! Now its quite a long time ago you made it but I have a question. I ve got a goto for the eq5 and there is the possibillity to remove the cone error with the controller. Can you help me with that? best whishes from here!
Hi, no, you cant remove cone error with the controller, it's about the telescopes alignment with the mount.
looks fun mate, hope your well, we have a pair of GoPros to play with putting stuff up on my channel.
Long time no see stranger
welcome to cyprus! you should also try Paramali beach for snorkeling, there are some local seals there that will keep you entertained and also Amathounta in Limassol, an ancient submerged city
Thanks, been going to Cyprus for over 25 years, always in the Paralimni area as my sister has a house there, I'm only a casual snorkeller/diver so Limassol etc would be too far out.
I recognise that new building in the distance. Next to a new marina. Lovely beach next to it.
@@DurkoppFordertechnic There is, but that tower is certainly not pretty. Thekla isn't a great beach, but it avoids a lot of tourists and is a great snorkelling spot.

This chart is from Baader using the spacer as is to without the nose piece and using the spacers. With 14 mm then the 28 mm and third is using them together, the largest focal length is without the 1.25 nosepiece at 2". So to get the longest you need a 2" focuser. Hi Doug, the 4k is still processing so have another look in about an hour, it's a truly magical little spot. Been going to Cyprus for over 25 years so if you need any info drop me a line.
Love those roundabout symbols they put on the roads. Could do with those in the UK.

hi Dion i hope you are well. i have one of your focus controllers that i bought from you off of the shed many moons ago, ive been out of the astronomy game for quite a while but im back in the game now. im having a bit of an issue with it. i plug it in and it does the test sequence where you can hear the relays ticking etc. but i cant connect to it. im going off of memories of almost a decade ago at the moment and as the shed is no more im struggling to find relevant info. is the driver the shoestring astronomy fcusb driver or something different? any help would be much appreciated thank you
It wasnt Shoestring, the software was written for me by Robin Glover, the guy behind sharpcap, he should be able to help.
@@astronomyshed ok brilliant thank you ;)

Cool redo
Thanks 😉
I was looking up guide scope rings and came across your video, but what caught my eye was the Armand Van Helden poster in the background!
I'm a former DJ and my technical links there are huge, I consulted with Pioneer DJ on the design of the DJM 5000 mixer and also can/could program DMX lighting, I have a number of connections in Cyprus and I programmed the lighting in Starsky's club in Ayia Napa some years ago and Armand was a guest DJ, the poster is signed. I've been around the block a bit lol
Hi. Could you recommend a collimation camera? I have a ZWO ASI 120mc-s but the built-in magnification is not suitable for viewing the inside of the tube
great idea. is the lens of the webcam still in place or have you removed the webcam lens?
Hi, lens is still in place.
Why are you using any bright star to align with and not Polaris, the noth star itself? I thought that was the point of the exercise, to align our mount with the earth's axis.
Because in this exercise, which is only part1 we are not polar aligning but making sure the mount is accurately calibrated for when we 'do' polar align, if the equipment isn't calibrated properly then a polar align will not be as accurate as it could be.
Thanks astroshed. This works and far better than what the eye can see. I never have to touch the secondary screws anymore.
Ben fatto, io ho risolto il gioco del mirino con del nylon da idraulica.
